Bon Tricot – A Week of Knitting & Relaxation in Mediterranean France
September 16-23, 2012

Join Belle France Tours for an exciting week of exploration and discovery in the sunny South of France. For 2012, we are very pleased to present Juju Vail, a multi-talented knitter, seamstress and designer from Great Britain, who has just released her new book, co-authored with Susan Cropper, Juju’s Loops. Juju brings warmth and enthusiasm to all that she does, and we’re very excited to have her as our instructor this year.

An exciting yet relaxing week of immersion into French life
Journey with us through the back roads of an enchanting landscape of hills graced with miles of vineyards, out-of-the-way, historic hilltop villages, colorful markets, and centuries-old chateaux. Languedoc retains its authentic character and charm, and is the perfect locale for a relaxing sojourn in the South of France. Visit some of the tucked-away wineries in this, the most prolific wine producing region in the world. While away the afternoon walking or biking along the treeshaded banks of the Canal du Midi, as it meanders through the verdant countryside past tiny villages like Le Somail and Capestang.

Not your average site-seeing tour
If you’re looking for a tour that takes in the maximum number of sites in the minimum amount of time, Belle France Tours is probably not for you. However, if you’re seeking a truly unique immersion into French daily life…if you envision yourself sitting on the sunny terrace of a beautiful Bed & Breakfast taking your morning knitting classes…. if your idea of a French vacation is more about an experience and less about checking things off your list… then you will find all of this, and more, with Belle France Tours.

La Vigneronne
This beautiful chambre d’hotes (B&B), nestled in the tiny village of Faugeres in the Herault departement of Languedoc, is the perfect place for that longed-for getaway, with its cozy rooms, inviting pool and old-world charm. And if you like wine, look no further than the on-site ancient wine cave and shoppe, where our hosts Christian and Regine display not only their own vintages, but also selected wines of the Faugeres appellation.

The dinners we enjoy at La Vigneronne are still our favorite dining experiences in France, as Regine presents her own simple but delicious fare using locally grown vegetables, first class cheeses, and desserts to die for. We’ll also close out the week with a one-of-a-kind wine tasting hosted by Christian, who will give us a colorful history of Languedoc wines as he presents several excellent varietals.

A true taste of French life
Our goal has always been to let our clients experience “La France Profonde” – Deep France – and all of our activities are planned with this in mind. Visit some of the tucked-away wineries in this, the most prolific wine producing region in the world. While away the afternoon walking or biking along the tree-shaded banks of the Canal du Midi, as it meanders through the verdant countryside past quaint villages like Poihles and Capestang. Come with us to Collioure, a beautiful gem that lies nestled along the Cote Vermeille beneath the foothills of the Pyrenees, and remains one of the most charming and inviting fishing villages in France.

Spend a morning sipping coffee at an outdoor café along the Place de la Comedie in Montpellier, the “Paris of the South”, then wander its narrow, shop-lined “Rue de L’Ancien Courrier” in the heart of the historic center of this vibrant city. Journey back through time, browsing the boutiques and antique shops on the winding backstreets of the medieval heart of Pezenas. But above all, relax, slow down, and enjoy France at its own pace.

What makes Belle France Tours unique?
In contrast to many tours, with "whirlwind" as their middle name, Belle France Tours are all about relaxation, immersion, and discovery. Our tours are more than just specialty tours - they’re a unique, one-of-a-kind artisan adventure in Languedoc. You’ll spend the week in charming, comfortable lodgings – a week filled with stimulating journeys into the heart of rural France, but with plenty of down time, time to relax by the pool, sip wine, and knit or read your favorite book.
